Iron Deposition following Chronic Myocardial Infarction as a Substrate for Cardiac Electrical Anomalies: Initial Findings in a Canine Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: Iron deposition has been shown to occur following myocardial infarction (MI). We investigated whether such focal iron deposition within chronic MI lead to electrical anomalies. Methods: Two groups of dogs (ex-vivo (n = 12) and in-vivo (n = 10))

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Action of Antiarrhythmic Agents on the Area of Slow Conduction in Ventricular Tachycardia.

open access: yesJapanese Heart Journal, 1996
The most common mechanism of monomorphic sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) is reentry with an excitable gap, but the electrophysiological properties and response to antiarrhythmic agents in the area of slow conduction are not yet fully known. The conduction time through the area of slow conduction may show a frequency-dependent delay in some VT ...

Histamine and the mechanisms of nausea and vomiting: Translating the uncertain pharmacology of cyclizine

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Cyclizine is a long‐established, short‐acting drug, registered for preventing motion sickness, post‐operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and ‘vomiting of known cause’. The latter is not defined but may include pregnancy and patients receiving palliative care, historically accepted without large, controlled trials.

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy: Prognostic Value of Electroanatomic Voltage Mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Endocardial voltage mapping (EVM) identifies low-voltage right ventricular (RV) areas, which may represent the electroanatomic scar substrate of life-threatening tachyarrhythmias.

Ventricular Tachycardia in Pregnant Patients

open access: yes, 2010
Ventricular tachycardia although not common, can occasionally complicate pregnancy. Its presence may indicate an underlying cardiac structural abnormality, or undiagnosed congenital arrhythmic disease.

Recurrent A V block following ablation for AVNRT

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2014
Slow pathway modification has become the mainstay for the treatment of atrio-ventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) ablation because of high success rate and low incidence of complications.

Localization of the Slow Conduction Zone During Reentrant Ventricular Tachycardia [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2000
Background —Reentrant ventricular tachycardia is sometimes difficult to treat effectively because localizing the slow conduction zone (SCZ) for catheter ablation may be problematic. It was hypothesized that a linear relationship exists between activating wave-front acceleration and deceleration in the SCZ and, respectively ...

Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy: Literature review and red‐flag symptom clusters for each cardiology specialty

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 955-967, April 2025.
Abstract Wild‐type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTRwt‐CM) is a progressive and infiltrative cardiac disorder that may cause fatal consequences if left untreated. The estimated survival time from diagnosis is approximately 3–6 years. Because of the non‐specificity of initial symptom manifestation and insufficient awareness among treating ...

Interventional therapies for chronic heart failure: An overview of recent developments

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1081-1094, April 2025.
Abstract Heart failure (HF), the final manifestation of most cardiovascular diseases, has become a major global health concern, affecting millions of individuals. Despite basic drug treatments, patients present with high morbidity and mortality rates. However, recent advancements in interventional therapy have shown promising results in improving the ...
