[The neurobiology of slow-wave sleep].
In the two last years my lectures were addressed to the biological bases of wakefulness and REM sleep. The present lecture is focused on slow wave sleep, which corresponds to stages 3 and 4 in humans. These two sleep stages both present high voltage slow waves in the EEG that belong to the delta band (less than 3 Hz).

ABSTRACT Objective This cross‐sectional study examined associations between sleep, body weight, body composition, appetite, and food reward after bariatric surgery. Methods A single 7‐day study period in 22 female adults (age, 53.5 ± 9.3 years; BMI, 35.5 ± 8.5 kg/m2; body fat: 44.9% ± 8.6%) who underwent bariatric surgery ≥ 1 year prior to enrollment ...

Effect of Hewei Anshen Decoction on depressive insomnia and brain neurotransmitter levels
Abstract Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Hewei Anshen Decoction (HAD) on both depressive symptoms and sleep quality in patients with depressive insomnia, and to investigate its impact on brain neurotransmitter levels. Methods Seventy‐two patients with depressive insomnia were randomly assigned to a treatment group and a control group ...

Abstract Introduction Short sleep may lead to impairments in executive function, including inhibitory control (IC). After bariatric surgery, better IC is associated with more favorable weight loss and weight maintenance outcomes. Methods This study examined the relationships between IC via a Go/No‐Go (GNG) task with sleep outcomes in a sample of 22 ...
