Phenotype Expansion of Malan Syndrome: New Cases and a Review of the Literature
ABSTRACT Malan syndrome is an ultra‐rare overgrowth syndrome caused by pathogenic variants or deletions in nuclear factor one X (NFIX) located at 19p13.2. Here, we report a comprehensive literature review and phenotyping of known patients with Malan syndrome and present a novel cohort of eight patients.

An Index to Characterize the South Indian Ocean High‐Pressure System and Its Variability
The South Indian Ocean subtropical high steers rainfall and drought across southern Africa, Australia, and the surrounding islands, yet it lacked a consistent measure of its behavior. Using an index built from 84 years of atmospheric pressure data, this study shows the high alternates between two distinct states, a strong southeastern position and a ...

Deep Mutational Scanning for the Study and Engineering of Protein Assemblies
This review explores how deep mutational scanning (DMS) can be used to improve understanding and accelerate engineering of protein assemblies, from natural fibers to engineered nanocages. We discuss various types of protein assemblies and their characterization, provide an introduction to the DMS technique, and then highlight examples in which DMS has ...

Anatomical Investigation Reveals a Second Olfactory System in Locusts
We traced chemosensory pathways from locust palps through the central nervous system. Olfactory input from basiconic sensilla targets the glomerular lobe and accessory calyx, whereas gustatory input is restricted to gnathal circuits. Thus, the palp and antennal olfactory pathways form parallel but separate systems.

Beyond Spelling: Oral and Written Expository Discourse Skills in Adolescents With Dyslexia

We explored red panda behavioral adaptations to disturbances from both temporal and spatial perspectives. Red pandas favor high‐altitude areas with minimal disturbance and abundant resources. Findings provide a foundation for developing cohesive protection strategies, crucial for long‐term conservation.

The Mental Health Impact of Retrograde Cricopharyngeus Dysfunction (RCPD) and Its Treatment
This study assessed the prevalence of anxiety and depression within patients with retrograde cricopharyngeus dysfunction (RCPD) while evaluating the impact of cricopharyngeal botulinum toxin injection (CPBTI) on associated symptoms. Using validated surveys for anxiety and depression given at specific time intervals, RCPD patients were found to have a ...
