Design and Performance of Slurry Erosion Tester

Journal of Tribology, 2010
A slurry whirling arm erosion test ring was constructed and a series of erosion tests and post-erosion analysis were carried out using a paint erosion indication technique. The pattern of the paint removal presented a highly visual and accelerated map for the erosion process and its behavior.

Slurry erosion of plasma-sprayed ceramic coatings

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1999
Abstract Abrasive resistances of engineering components encountering the attack of erosive environments during operation can be improved by ceramic coatings on their surfaces with a optimum techniques of plasma spraying. The present paper mainly studied abrasive properties of a series of ceramic coatings with different low pressure plasma spray (LPPS)

Erosion damage of polymeric material by slurry

Wear, 1986
Abstract An attempt was made to reveal the erosion mechanism of a plastic material in slurry containing glass beads of approximately 176 μm in diameter. The experimental observations were interpreted in terms of parameters such as the impact velocity Vp, the impact angle α of the beads and the striking efficiency η.

Slurry Erosion Behaviors of Pseudoelastic TiNi Alloy

ASME/STLE 2007 International Joint Tribology Conference, Parts A and B, 2007
The slurry erosion behaviors of pseudoelastic TiNi alloy were studied using the liquid/solid impingement system and compared with SUS 630 and 2Cr12NiMo1W1V alloy. The influences of erosion time and angle on erosion resistance of three materials were surveyed.

Electrochemical investigation of erosion–corrosion using a slurry pot erosion tester

Tribology International, 2011
The aim of this paper is to use a modified slurry pot erosion tester to perform in-situ electrochemical measurements during solid particle impingement to investigate the effects of velocity, sand size and sand concentration on a passive metal (UNS S31603). Samples are subjected to a set of erosion–corrosion experiments.

Slurry Erosion: Macro- and Micro- Aspects

2001
Erosion by slurries — the removal of material from a container wall by the contact with it of solid particles suspended in liquid — is described and the principal factors affecting the rate of material removal given. The complexities of the slurry flow and material wear phenomena require that test methods to measure rates of material loss by erosion ...

Erosive Wear Model of Slurry Pump Impeller

Journal of Tribology, 2010
Abstract Erosion wear is a serious problem that constantly accompanies the operation of the system for hydraulic transportation of solid materials. The consequences are the loss of material (steel), loss of work element’s working capacity, great operational expenses, etc.

Erosion Modeling in High Concentration Slurry Flow

Volume 1C, Symposia: Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flows; Gas and Liquid-Solid Two-Phase Flows; Numerical Methods for Multiphase Flow; Turbulent Flows: Issues and Perspectives; Flow Applications in Aerospace; Fluid Power; Bio-Inspired Fluid Mechanics; Flow Manipulation and Active Control; Fundamental Issues and Perspectives in Fluid Mechanics; Transport Phenomena in Energy Conversion From Clean and Sustainable Resources; Transport Phenomena in Materials Processing and Manufacturing Processes, 2017
Many industrial processes involve high concentration particulate multiphase flow in which the carrier phase is continuous and the solid particles are dispersed in the carrier phase. Although much research has been directed toward modeling of solid particle erosion, very few have presented a generalized approach for erosion modeling under high ...

Study of Erosion–Corrosion and Corrosion Behavior of Commercially Pure-Ti During Slurry Erosion

Journal of Tribology, 2018
The erosion–corrosion (EC) and pure erosion of commercially pure titanium have been investigated in a 3.5% sodium chloride solution containing 10, 30, and 60 g/l SiO2 particles with an average size of 318 μm. The tests were performed at impact velocities of 4, 6, and 9 m/s under two impact angles of 40 deg and 90 deg. Polarization technique was used to

Erosion Wear in A Slurry Pipe With Multisized Coal And Bottom-Ash Slurries

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2017
Abstract Presently, Erosion wear is one of the major problems in slurry transportation system affecting both initial cost and life of its components. In the present work, erosion wear due to solid–liquid mixture flow has been studied using a slurry erosion pot tester.
