Performance of ice slurry as cooling fluid for an indoor ice rink
Energy Efficiency, 2014A slightly modified version of a previously published model calculating transient heat transfer under the ice of an indoor ice rink is used to evaluate the performance of two cooling fluids, a brine with 20 % calcium chloride (base case) and a calcium chloride ice slurry.

Ice/Water Slurry Blocking Phenomenon at a Tube Orifice
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2002Abstract: The phenomenon of ice‐particle/water mixture blocking flow through a pipeline is a problem that needs to be solved before mixture flow can be applied for practical use in cold energy transportation in a district cooling system. In this work, the blocking mechanism of ice‐particle slurry at a tube orifice is investigated and a criterion for ...

Distributed measurement system and sensors for "ice slurry" characterization
Proceedings of the 21st IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37510), 2004This paper deals with the problem of the characterization of sensors developed estimating the ice fraction in ice slurry fluids flowing into the pipes of industrial refrigeration apparatus based on secondary refrigerants. Such measurements must be performed in a non invasive way and the sensors must face with severe environmental conditions.

Ice Slurry Ingestion Increases Running Time in the Heat
Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, 2011To examine the effect of drinking an ice slurry (slushy) compared with cold water on prolonged submaximal exercise performed in the heat and on thermoregulatory responses.Crossover trial, with the 2 conditions counterbalanced and in random order. Results were adjusted for multiple comparisons by the method of Bonferroni.Exercise laboratory study; Edith

Ice slurry generation by antisolvant effect
