Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Numerical Study on Flow-Melt Characteristics of Ice Slurry in Horizontal Straight Pipe with a Local Large Heat Flux Segment

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Ice slurry is a high energy density coolant with excellent flow, phase change, and thermophysical properties. In order to investigate the recovery of ice slurry flowing through a local large heat flux segment, a 3D Eulerian-Eulerian model based on the ...

Conductive Additives for Next‐Generation Batteries: Emphasizing the Potential of Bio‐Derived 3D Carbon Architectures at Electrode–Electrolyte Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
3D conductive frameworks can maintain continuous electron transport, mechanical stability, and interfacial integrity, helping next‐generation batteries operate more efficiently. This Review examines their relevance to Si anodes, all‐solid‐state batteries, and dry‐processed electrodes, and highlights bio‐derived carbons as sustainable, structurally ...

Effects of ice slurry ingestion on body temperature and softball pitching performance in a hot environment: a randomized crossover trial

open access: yesJournal of Physiological Anthropology, 2023
Background Although softball players are often required to play in hot environments, scarce evidence is available regarding the effects of ice slurry ingestion on body temperature and pitching performance in softball pitchers in a hot environment.

Production rate analysis on ice slurry generator with pump speed variation and ice slurry thermal storage for building [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
The reduction of electrical energy consumption is the major issue for energy conservation in building. Ice slurry offers advantages in efficient cooling medium, capable of shifting the electricity demand and reduction in size of system compared over conventional cooling system. In this study, an attempt was made to develop an ice slurry as an efficient

Hijacking the Host Clock: A Nematode Effector Antagonizes Soybean Circadian Defense and Translation Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soybean employs its circadian clock, governed by GmCCA1, to rhythmically defend against soybean cyst nematodes. The pathogen retaliates by secreting the effector Hg4E02, which hijacks the clock to suppress defense and co‐opt the host's translation machinery for nutrient acquisition.

Inhibition of SIRT7 Overcomes Radioresistance in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors by Reactivating MEN1 Expression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors frequently silence MEN1 through epigenetic mechanisms. Here, SIRT7 recruits DNMT1 to the MEN1 promoter, drives hypermethylation, and enhances DNA repair. Inhibiting SIRT7 restores MEN1, reduces MRN complex abundance, impairs double‐strand break repair, and sensitizes PanNET models to radiation, supporting SIRT7 as a ...
