Modulation of the nanoscale motion rate of Candida albicans by X-rays. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Patients undergoing cancer treatment by radiation therapy commonly develop Candida albicans infections (candidiasis). Such infections are generally treated by antifungals that unfortunately also induce numerous secondary effects in the patient ...

State maps on semihoops

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2018
In this paper, we introduce the notion of state maps from a semihoop H1 to another semihoop H2, which is a generalization of internal states (or state operators) on a semihoop H.

Detection of Self-Mixing Interferometric Fringes of a Laser Sensor Using Matched Filter

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
Self-Mixing (SM) is a promising technique for sensing vibration, distance, velocity etc. To retrieve accurate metric measurements from an acquired SM signal, it is necessary to correctly detect all interferometric fringes.

Unravelling the Photoprotection Properties of Garden Cress Sprout Extract

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Plants, as with humans, require photoprotection against the potentially damaging effects of overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Previously, sinapoyl malate (SM) was identified as the photoprotective agent in thale cress. Here, we seek to identify

Infant Isolation and Cohorting for Preventing or Reducing Transmission of Healthcare-Associated Infections in Neonatal Units [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
BACKGROUND: Neonatal healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) result in increased morbidity and mortality, as well as increased healthcare costs. Patient isolation measures, i.e.

The combined effects of filter-feeding bivalves (Cristaria plicata) and submerged macrophytes (Hydrilla verticillate) on phytoplankton assemblages in nutrient-enriched freshwater mesocosms

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Freshwater ecosystems are threatened by eutrophication, which causes persistent and harmful algal blooms. Filter-feeding bivalve mollusks and submerged macrophytes (SMs) alleviate the eutrophication effects by inhibiting phytoplankton biomass blooms ...

On Term Weighting for Spam SMS Filtering

open access: yesSakarya University Journal of Computer and Information Sciences, 2020
Due to rapid development of the technology, the usage of mobile telephones and short message services (SMS) have become widespread. Thus, the number of spam SMS messages has dramatically increased and the significance of identifying and filtering of suchlike messages raised.

Effective Cutoff Energies for B, Cd, Gd, and Sm Filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1962
Effective energy cutoffs have been calculated on an IBM7090 computer for Cd, Gd, Sm, and B filters as functions of filter geometry, the ratio of Maxwellian to epithermal flux (assumed to be 1/E), the lower energy limit of the 1/E flux, the energy corresponding to the Maxwellian most probable (modal) velocity and filter thickness.
