TbCu7-type Sm-Fe-N anisotropic powder with a high Fe content has the potential to surpass the Nd-Fe-B magnet. In this study, elemental substitution of Sm in a Sm-Fe system was investigated for the purpose of synthesizing Fe-rich TbCu7-type Sm-Fe ...

Simultaneous in situ determination of U‐Pb and Sm‐Nd isotopes in monazite by laser ablation ICP‐MS
Results are presented for in situ simultaneous determination of U‐Pb and Sm‐Nd isotopes in monazite using the Laser Ablation Split‐Stream (LASS) method. This method uses a laser ablation system coupled to a magnetic‐sector inductively coupled plasma mass

Recent progress in the development of high-performance bonded magnets using rare earth–Fe compounds
Permanent magnets, and particularly rare earth magnets such as Nd-Fe-B, have attracted much attention because of their magnetic properties. There are two well-established techniques for obtaining sintered magnets and bonded Nd-Fe-B magnets.

Super-chondritic Sm/Nd ratios in Mars, the Earth and the Moon
Small isotopic differences in the atomic abundance of neodymium-142 (142Nd) in silicate rocks represent the time-averaged effect of decay of formerly live samarium-146 (146Sm) and provide constraints on the timescales and mechanisms by which planetary mantles first differentiated.

The age of the ferropicritic volcanics and comagmatic Ni-bearing intrusions at Pechenga, Kola Peninsula, U.S.S.R. [PDF]
Sm-Nd, Pb-Pb and U-Pb isotopic results are presented for samples from the Pilgujärvi Suite of the Pechenga Series. Whole rock samples and clinopyroxenes of ferropicritic volcanics yield a Sm-Nd isochron age of 1990 ± 66 Ma with εNd + 1.6 ± 0.4.

The Influence of Nd and Sm on the Structure and Properties of Sol-Gel-Derived TiO2 Powders
TiO2 nanopowders modified by Nd and Sm were prepared using the sol-gel technique. It was found by XRD analysis that the samples containing Sm are amorphous up to 300 °C, while those with Nd preserve a mixed organic-inorganic amorphous structure at higher
