Design and Implementation of a Soft Robotic Arm Driven by SMA Coils
IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print), 2019Soft robots may potentially be used for human services and complex environmental locomotion. The bodies of the soft robots are made from soft materials to make them safe for human interactions and to enable them to deform enough to adapt to soft or rough

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2001
A microgripper system is presented, which consists of a monolithic shape memory alloy (SMA) device of 2 × 5.8 × 0.23 mm3 size and an integrated optical position sensor. By use of an integrated gear actuator, the motion of gripping jaws is transmitted into a linear motion of an integrated optical slit, which is detected by change of optical transmission.

Suprazygomatic SMAS in Rhytidectomy
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1984A personal method for the treatment of the suprazygomatic SMAS and its results are presented. By acting on the suprazygomatic fibromuscular layer in the rhytidectomy, the surgeon can avoid tension on the cutaneous layer, and possible consequences thereof, as well as diminish the probabilities of damaging the facial nerve.

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Summary: Manipulation of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) has become a mainstay of face-lifting procedures. The various surgical approaches to the SMAS traditionally have been classified as either “low” or “high” SMAS techniques, the former of which, although expeditious, have been criticized for suboptimal ...

Discrepancy in redetermination of SMN2 copy numbers in children with SMA
Neurology, 2019Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited neuromuscular disease with an incidence of about 1:6,000 to 1:10,000 in newborns. The clinical spectrum of severity is broad and ranges from early and severe weakness with respiratory ...

Modified SMAS lifting with zigzag cutting of SMAS
Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic MedicineObjective. To ensure synergy of high PMAS mobilization and facial tissue mobilization in deep plane by preserving the main lymphatic collectors of lateral surface of the face in combination with effective fixation of SMAS flap to deep temporal fascia. Material and methods. A feature of original method is zigzag cutting of SMAS with further mobilization

The SMAS and the Nasolabial Fold
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1992In a series of histologic sections and clinical and cadaver dissections, the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) is seen to become the investing fascia of the zygomaticus major and minor muscles in the medial cheek. The pull on the cheek flap during rhytidectomy is diffused by the attachment of the SMAS to these muscles.
