Grouping similar fibre types in hybrid discontinuous composite materials

open access: yes, 2017
A virtual testing framework and a new manufacturing process were developed to investigate how grouping similar fibre types within a hybrid discontinuous composite affects the strength and pseudo-ductility of the material.

Targeted‐Penetrating Biomimetic Hybrid Transfersomes for Enhanced Transdermal Gene Transfection in Hypertrophic Scar Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hypertrophic scar fibroblasts membrane‐hybridized cationic transfersomes enable efficient loading and transdermal delivery of TGF‐β1 siRNA through multiple skin penetration pathways. The biomimetic platform enhances homotypic targeting, transfection, and immune evasion, suppresses TGF‐β1‐driven fibrotic signaling, and reduces extracellular matrix ...

NCOA4 Accelerates Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Formation by Regulating Macrophage Activation and Ferroptosis via STAT1–CH25H Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under pathological stimulation, NCOA4 in macrophages interacts with STAT1 to promote CH25H transcription. The subsequent increase in 25‐HC production activates macrophages, triggers inflammatory responses and ferroptosis, and accelerates the progression of AAA.

Cr1/4NbSe2‐Single Crystal Growth and Evolution of Antiferromagnetic Correlated States

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐quality single crystals Cr1/4NbSe2 were synthesized and comprehensively characterized for the first time. Advanced structural, electronic, and magnetic measurements uncover a correlated antiferromagnetic state, resolving longstanding inconsistencies regarding magnetic behavior derived from earlier polycrystal studies.

Structural and damping performance of hybrid GFRP composites with thin sheet SMA inserts

open access: yesSmart Materials and Structures
Abstract This work explores a novel hybrid composite design that incorporates thin shape memory alloy (SMA) sheet inserts within glass fiber-reinforced polymer laminates. By using flat NiTi and Cu–Al–Mn alloy plates—instead of traditional SMA wires—the study evaluates whether increased material volume improves vibration damping. Brass

A Living Multi‐Omics PDX Biobank of High‐Risk Sarcomas Reveals ecDNA‐Driven Oncogene Amplification in Osteosarcoma and Enables Preclinical Precision Oncology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A living multi‐omics sarcoma PDX biobank is enriched for high‐risk disease and preserves key patient tumor features at histopathological and molecular levels. Integrated profiling reveals ecDNA‐driven oncogene amplification in osteosarcoma and preferential retention of ecDNA during PDX evolution.

Aged ZnO Nanoparticles Promote Breast Cancer Lung Metastasis by Remodeling the Pulmonary Microenvironment Through the CXCL10/Wnt/β‐Catenin Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In summary, pulmonary exposure to ZnO NPs, particularly aged NPs, promotes breast cancer metastasis by remodelling the lung tumour microenvironment. Aged ZnO NPs enrich M2‐macrophages, MDSCs and activated CAFs to form an immunosuppressive metastatic niche. CXCL10 from these cells drives metastasis via Wnt/β‐catenin activation.
