Olami-Feder-Christensen Model on different Networks

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate numerically the Self Organized Criticality (SOC) properties of the dissipative Olami-Feder-Christensen model on small-world and scale-free networks. We find that the small-world OFC model exhibits self-organized criticality.

An algebraic model for prediction of bypass and separation-induced transition in turbomachinery boundary layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An algebraic intermittency model for bypass and separation-induced transition is presented. The model modifies the production terms of a k-omega turbulence model. It uses only local variables and is tuned for turbomachinery flows.

Holographic model for heavy vector meson masses

open access: yes, 2016
The experimentally observed spectra of heavy vector meson radial excitations show a dependence on two different energy parameters. One is associated with the quark mass and the other with the binding energy levels of the quark anti-quark pair.

ReQuEST: A Small-Scale Multi-Task Model for Community Question-Answering Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
The burgeoning popularity of community question-answering platforms as an information-seeking strategy has prompted researchers to look for ways to save response time and effort, among which question entailment recognizing, question summarizing, and ...

Large-scale instabilities of helical flows

open access: yes, 2016
Large-scale hydrodynamic instabilities of periodic helical flows are investigated using $3$D Floquet numerical computations. A minimal three-modes analytical model that reproduce and explains some of the full Floquet results is derived. The growth-rate $\

A modified particle method for semilinear hyperbolic systems with oscillatory solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We introduce a modified particle method for semi-linear hyperbolic systems with highly oscillatory solutions. The main feature of this modified particle method is that we do not require different families of characteristics to meet at one point.

Cosmic string loops: large and small, but not tiny

open access: yes, 2008
We develop an analytical model to study the production spectrum of loops in the cosmic string network. In the scaling regime, we find two different scales corresponding to large (one order below horizon) and small (few orders below horizon) loops.
