Bayesian Small Area Estimation

2022
The wealth of timely and detailed information provided by sample surveys (see Survey Sampling; Finite Populations, Sampling From) attracts interest of researchers and analysts, with planned domains (see Sampling Designs in Surveys) being of primary yet clearly not exclusive inferential interest.

Outlier robust model‐assisted small area estimation

Biometrical Journal, 2013
Small area estimation with M‐quantile models was proposed by Chambers and Tzavidis (). The key target of this approach to small area estimation is to obtain reliable and outlier robust estimates avoiding at the same time the need for strong parametric assumptions.

Small area estimation

1999
Inference techniques for unbalanced and balanced two-factor experiments under an inverse Gaussian model can be used in the area of estimation for small regions. Chaubey et al., (1996) consider the analysis of variance methodology for the inverse Gaussian law and adapt it for estimation of small area parameters in finite populations.

BAYESIAN ROBUSTNESS IN SMALL AREA ESTIMATION

Statistics & Risk Modeling, 1998
Summary: We address Bayesian robustness in the hierarchical Bayes setting in the context of small area estimation. We provide the range where the small area means belong under \(\varepsilon\)-contamination class as well as the density ratio class of priors.

Small Area Estimation

2013
In the dissertation special problems that may be encountered in finding optimal estimation strategy for small area estimation, in particular, model diagnostics for small area models, constrained estimation, sample design selection, nonresponse adjustment and borrowing strength across both small areas and time are considered.
