Near‐infrared fluorescent pH indicators based on perylenediimide were constructed in a modular receptor–spacer–fluorophore–spacer–receptor format with heterocyclic amino moieties at the bay positions. Counterintuitively, the dibrominated intermediate with two heavy atoms is more emissive than the heterocyclic compounds.

Small ball probabilities for the passage time in planar first-passage percolation
We study planar first-passage percolation with independent weights whose common distribution is supported in $(0,\infty)$ and is absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure. We prove that the passage time from $x$ to $y$ denoted by $T(x,y)$ satisfies $$\max _{a\ge 0} \mathbb P \big( T(x,y)\in [a,a+1] \big) \le \frac{C}{\sqrt{\log \|x-y\|}},$$

A series of BN‐azepines with a twisted heptagonal B–N donor–acceptor framework was synthesized, enabling stable photoinduced radicals in solution. Upon photoexcitation, charge separation between the triarylamine donor and boron acceptor yields a longer‐lived triplet state, which can generate a nitrogen radical cation through electron transfer.

ABSTRACT To enhance the structural robustness of bridges, a rocking arch‐shaped segmental pier with a double sliding system was previously proposed as a low‐cost solution to protect bridges in developing countries. The rocking behavior is triggered by halting the sliding motion, which increases the horizontal load‐bearing capacity and limits ...

Explaining Episodes of High Inflation: Demand‐ and Supply‐Side Drivers in Times of Uncertainty
ABSTRACT In this paper, we investigate the extent to which uncertainty anticipates episodes of high inflation in 30 economies worldwide. Our analysis accounts for several factors, including inflation expectations, real global economic activity, and supply chain disruptions.

We examined the efficacy of an online growth mindset single session intervention (SSI) for young people aged 14–18 years old in the UK. 104 participants were randomised to a registered clinical trial. Intention‐to‐treat analysis yielded negligible effect sizes for anxiety and depression symptoms, whereas the effect on personality mindset was ...
