Trichobezoar with small bowel obstruction

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 1998
Trichobezoar is a rare clinical entity. Stomach is the common site of occurrence. Intestinal obstruction due to trichobezoar is extremely rare. We report a case of subacute bowel obstruction in a 7-year-old girl which required resection of the involved ileal segment and release of small bowel adhesions.

Laparoscopic approach to small bowel obstruction

Seminars in Laparoscopic Surgery, 2002
Historically, laparotomy and open adhesiolysis have been the treatment of choice for patients requiring surgery with small bowel obstruction (SBO), although laparotomy itself is an independent risk factor for bowel obstruction. Laparoscopy is known to create fewer intra-abdominal adhesions than open laparotomy.

Endometriosis and small bowel obstruction.

Acta chirurgica Belgica, 1982
Pelvic endometriosis, a common disease of the female genital tract, may also affect the bowel, especially the rectosigmoid colon. Involvement of the small intestine occurs very infrequently. A case of small bowel obstruction caused by ileal endometriosis is reported. Correct preoperative diagnosis is very difficult to achieve.
