Trichobezoar with small bowel obstruction
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 1998Trichobezoar is a rare clinical entity. Stomach is the common site of occurrence. Intestinal obstruction due to trichobezoar is extremely rare. We report a case of subacute bowel obstruction in a 7-year-old girl which required resection of the involved ileal segment and release of small bowel adhesions.

ACUTE OBSTRUCTION OF THE SMALL BOWEL
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1949The physiologic and pathologic abnormalities caused by acute obstruction of the small bowel have been studied in many clinics and laboratories. Obstruction of the Defunctionalized Small Bowel
Archives of Surgery, 1981To the Editor.—The article by Aitken et al (Archives1980;115:1031-1036) on obstruction of the defunctionalized small bowel after jejunoileal bypass is interesting, in that six of the seven cases described had a Scott-type end-to-end jejunoileal anastomosis rather than an end-to-side Payne procedure.

Laparoscopic approach to small bowel obstruction
Seminars in Laparoscopic Surgery, 2002Historically, laparotomy and open adhesiolysis have been the treatment of choice for patients requiring surgery with small bowel obstruction (SBO), although laparotomy itself is an independent risk factor for bowel obstruction. Laparoscopy is known to create fewer intra-abdominal adhesions than open laparotomy.

Endometriosis and small bowel obstruction.
Acta chirurgica Belgica, 1982Pelvic endometriosis, a common disease of the female genital tract, may also affect the bowel, especially the rectosigmoid colon.
