Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1643-1660, June 2026.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Overexpression of the non-coding SOX2OT variants 4 and 7 in lung tumors suggests an oncogenic role in lung cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Despite the advances in cancer therapy, lung cancer still remains the most leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are recently introduced as novel regulators of human cancers. SOX2 overlapping transcript (SOX2OT) is a

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Small Cell Carcinoma of the Gallbladder

open access: yesCureus, 2023
Primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the gallbladder (GB) is a rare, highly dismal lethal disease with a fatal prognosis. A 45-year-old female presented with right upper abdomen pain and multiple vomiting episodes. Imaging studies showed diffuse thickening of the wall of the GB with locoregional invasion into the nearby structures with extensive ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Motor neuronopathy associated with Adenocarcinoma of Esophagus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Neurologic paraneoplastic syndromes (NPS) are remote neurologic effects, except metastasis, of systemic cancers. These are a rare group of disorders, commonly associated with small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC).1 Various NPS have been described, including ...

Small cell carcinoma of the prostate

open access: yesThe British Journal of Radiology, 1992
Primary small cell carcinoma of the prostate gland is a rare disease entity with a poor prognosis. Even more unusual than primary disease is a metastasis from a lung primary (Johnson et al, 1974; Hodge & Carson, 1985). We confine ourselves in this paper to primary disease, which has to be differentiated clinically from a pulmonary metastasis.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Targeting apoptosis signaling in pancreatic cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ability to escape apoptosis or programmed cell death is a hallmark of human cancers, for example pancreatic cancer. This can promote tumorigenesis, since too little cell death by apoptosis disturbs tissue homeostasis.
