SMALL CELL CANCER OF THE CERVIX
Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1964Abstract Of 1,035 cases of Grades III and IV carcinoma of the cervix reviewed, 148 (14.3 per cent) were small cell carcinoma. Analysis of results of various methods of treatment in these cases suggests that identification of the cell type offered no advantage in selecting the type of treatment for cancer of the cervix.

Telomerase Activity in Small-Cell and Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancers
JNCI Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1995Telomerase is an enzyme that adds hexameric TTAGGG nucleotide repeats onto the ends of vertebrate chromosomal DNAs (i.e., telomeres) to compensate for losses that occur with each round of DNA replication. Somatic cells do not have telomerase activity and stop dividing when the telomeric ends of at least some chromosomes have been shortened to a ...

Therapy for small cell and non-small cell lung cancer
Current Opinion in Oncology, 1992This review addresses means for improving treatment results in small cell and non-small cell lung cancer. In small cell lung cancer lactate dehydrogenase and neuron-specific enolase seem to be important prognostic factors that may reflect not only tumor load but also growth rate. Chemotherapy seems to induce or select differentiated cells in small cell

Small cell carcinoma of the ovary
Gynecologic Oncology, 1991A case of a 29-year-old woman with primary small cell carcinoma of the ovary associated with hypercalcemia is presented. Despite intensive surgical and chemotherapeutic intervention, the patient expired after 19 months. Literature review indicates that this rare tumor grows rapidly, with hypercalcemia occurring frequently.
