Incremental Learning for Malware Classification in Small Datasets [PDF]

open access: yesSecurity and Communication Networks, 2020
Information security is an important research area. As a very special yet important case, malware classification plays an important role in information security. In the real world, the malware datasets are open-ended and dynamic, and new malware samples belonging to old classes and new classes are increasing continuously.

PaSTeL: Parallel Runtime and Algorithms for Small Datasets [PDF]

open access: yes2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems, 2009
In this document, we put forward PaSTeL, an engine dedicated to parallel algorithms. PaSTeL offers both a programming model, to build parallel algorithms and an execution model based on work-stealing. Special care has been taken on using optimized thread activation and synchronization mechanisms. In order to illustrate the use of PaSTeL a subset of the

A Novel Virtual Sample Generation Method to Overcome the Small Sample Size Problem in Computer Aided Medical Diagnosing

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2019
Deep neural networks are successful learning tools for building nonlinear models. However, a robust deep learning-based classification model needs a large dataset. Indeed, these models are often unstable when they use small datasets. To solve this issue,

A repeat sales index robust to small datasets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Property Investment & Finance, 2011
PurposeThis paper aims to test the robustness of the trend and volatility estimations for two indices: the classical Weighted Repeat Sales and a PCA factorial index. The estimations are computed from a dataset of Paris commercial properties.Design/methodology/approachFirst, two methodologies are presented, and then the dataset.

Bootstrapping statistical parsers from small datasets [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the tenth conference on European chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics - EACL '03, 2003
We present a practical co-training method for bootstrapping statistical parsers using a small amount of manually parsed training material and a much larger pool of raw sentences. Experimental results show that unlabelled sentences can be used to improve the performance of statistical parsers.
