The reconstruction of small nasal defects

Operative Techniques in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1999
The repair of small or superficial nasal wounds has not received as much attention in the plastic surgery literature as the reconstruction of large or complex defects, and yet managing patients with these problems can be extremely challenging. A strategy for repair can be successfully developed based on the size and location of the defect and the ...

Small bowel incarceration in a broad ligament defect

Surgical Endoscopy, 2003
We report the case of a 33-year-old woman whose medical history included three normal pregnancies without previous abdominal or pelvic surgery. She presented with small bowel obstruction. An abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan study revealed air fluid levels in the pelvis.

Poisson analyses of defects for small software components

Journal of Systems and Software, 1997
Poisson analyses are proposed for the identification of the determinants of defects in small software components such as subprograms, modules, or functional units. Software complexity (which can be measured during design or implementation) and software development environment characteristics influence the numbers of defects emerging in the testing ...

A versatile procedure for the closure of small skin defects

Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1985
The author describes a method for the primary, direct closure of wide skin lesions, combining the "lazy S," "crown," and the "H"-advancement flap techniques. The "lazy S" edges of the flaps permit the satisfactory use of adjacent surrounding skin with good aesthetic results, when the flaps alone would otherwise be placed under too much strain.

Small Flap Coverage of Hand and Digit Defects

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1989
Small defects of the hand and digits challenge the surgeon to use innovative methods of composite reconstruction for retention of digital length; aesthetic nail appearance; coverage of joint, implants, and tendons; release of scar contractures; and restoration of sensation in critical tactile surfaces.

Autograft Replacement of Small Joint Defects in the Hand

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1996
Intraarticular injuries to the small joints of the hand with attendant loss of cartilage can result in the development of posttraumatic arthritis with functional disability due to pain and loss of motion. Traditional treatment options often have yielded suboptimal results in terms of functional return, particularly when applied once contracture or ...
