Structure and function of the small ribozymes

Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2001
Recently, major advances have been made toward increasing our understanding of small ribozyme structure and function. The first general acid-base catalytic mechanism for a ribozyme has been defined. Shifted nucleotide pK(a) values have been found to be surprisingly frequent structural elements.

Neutrophil Function in Small Animals

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 2012
Neutrophils are highly mobile phagocytes that serve as the initial effectors against pathogens and are actively recruited to sites of inflammation. Chemoattractants guide them toward the inflammation, and their interaction with endothelial cells directs them through postcapillary venules and into the tissues.

Meromorphic functions sharing small functions

Archiv der Mathematik, 2001
Let f and g be meromorphic functions sharing four small functions $$ a_1, a_2, a_3, a_4 $$ ignoring multiplicities. If there is a small function $$a_5$$ distinct from

Functions of Small RNAs in Mosquitoes

2016
The role of small noncoding RNAs in regulating gene expression and as a consequence their connection with most cellular pathways is becoming increasingly recognized. In insects, the three major small noncoding RNAs, microRNAs, PIWI-interacting RNAs and short interfering RNAs, are involved in a range of biological processes such as development ...

Functional Laws of Small Numbers

2004
We will develop in the following a particular extension of the well-known Poisson approximation of binomial distributions with a small hitting probability, which is known as the law of small numbers. This extension, which one might call functional laws of small numbers, links such seemingly different topics like non-parametric regression analysis and ...

Meromorphic Functions Sharing Pairs of Small Functions

Mathematica Slovaca, 2015
Abstract In this paper, we investigate the relations between two meromorphic functions that share some pairs of small functions. In particular, we show that two meromorphic functions that share six pairs of small functions IM∗ must be linked by quasi-Möbius transformation.

The uniqueness of meromorphic functions concerning small functions

Science in China Series A: Mathematics, 2000
We prove that the Nevanlinna five-point-theorem on the uniqueness of meromorphic functions is valid for five small meromorphic functions.

Analysis of Small GTPase Function in Trypanosomes

2008
Trypanosomatids are protozoan parasites, of interest due to both their disease burden and deeply divergent position within the eukaryotic lineage. The African trypanosome, Trypanosoma brucei, has emerged as a very amenable model system, with a considerable toolbox of methods available, including inducible overexpression, RNA interference, and a ...

Probing Protein Function with Small Molecules

2006
The interface of chemistry and biology offers many opportunities to explore different aspects of cell biology. The emerging field of chemical genetics is providing the chemical means to understand biological systems not easily accessible using classical genetic manipulations.
