Functional diversity of small nucleolar RNAs

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2019
AbstractSmall nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) are short non-protein-coding RNAs with a long-recognized role in tuning ribosomal and spliceosomal function by guiding ribose methylation and pseudouridylation at targeted nucleotide residues of ribosomal and small nuclear RNAs, respectively.

Small molecule-mediated refolding and activation of myosin motor function

open access: yeseLife, 2014
The small molecule EMD 57033 has been shown to stimulate the actomyosin ATPase activity and contractility of myofilaments. Here, we show that EMD 57033 binds to an allosteric pocket in the myosin motor domain.

Small Nucleolar RNAs: Insight Into Their Function in Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Small nucleolar RNAs (SnoRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs divided into two classes: C/D box snoRNAs and H/ACA box snoRNAs. The canonical function of C/D box and H/ACA box snoRNAs are 2'-O-ribose methylation and pseudouridylation of ribosomal RNAs ...

Small x nonlinear evolution with impact parameter and the structure function data

open access: yes, 2011
The nonlinear Balitsky-Kovchegov equation at small x is solved numerically, incorporating impact parameter dependence. Confinement is modeled by including effective gluon mass in the dipole evolution kernel, which regulates the splitting of dipoles with ...

Quasar Clustering in Cosmological Hydrodynamic Simulations: Evidence for mergers

open access: yes, 2010
We examine the clustering properties of a population of quasars drawn from fully hydrodynamic cosmological simulations that directly follow black hole growth.

Artin L-functions of small conductor

open access: yesResearch in Number Theory, 2017
We study the problem of finding the Artin L-functions with the smallest conductor for a given Galois type. We adapt standard analytic techniques to our novel situation of fixed Galois type and get much improved lower bounds on the smallest conductor.

Small first zeros of $$L$$ L -functions

open access: yesMonatshefte für Mathematik, 2014
From a family of L-functions with unitary symmetry, Hughes and Rudnick obtained results on the height of its lowest zero. We extend their results to other families of Lfunctions according to the type of symmetry coming from statistics for low-lying zeros.

The function of tRNA-derived small RNAs in cardiovascular diseases

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids
tRNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) constitute a subgroup of small noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) originating from tRNA molecules. Their rich content, evolutionary conservatism, high stability, and widespread existence makes them significant in disease research ...

Green functions in small characteristic

open access: yesJournal of Algebra
The values of the ordinary Green functions are known for almost all groups of Lie type, a long term achievement by various authors. In this note we solve the last open cases, which are for exceptional groups $E_8(q)$ where $q$ is a power of $2$, $3$ or $5$.
