Project failures in small companies
IEEE Software, 2003The author relates his experiences in a small software development company. These experiences show that project management is challenging and if the project manager is an obstacle, the project is bound to fail. When it does, it can spell disaster for the manager and anyone who accompanies him or her on a software development journey.

COST ANALYSIS IN SMALL WIND PROJECTS
2012In the last years an increasing attention has been paid to distributed energy production from small wind turbines (i.e. < 200 kWp). The market, especially in Italy, has grown up very rapidly in the last years (basically not existing since 3-4 years ago, now it counts approximately 8 MWp). The main purpose of the paper is therefore to provide a reliable

Visualizing Gnome with the Small Project Observatory
2009 6th IEEE International Working Conference on Mining Software Repositories, 2009We analyzed the Gnome family of systems with the Small Project Observatory, our online ecosystem visualization platform. We begin by briefly introducing the model of SPO. We then observe and discuss several phases in the activity of the Gnome ecosystem.

Metrics for small projects: Experiences at the SED
IEEE Software, 1999An organized, comprehensive metrics program can bring order to the chaos of small-project management and form the foundation for a concerted process improvement effort. The authors describe their experience in applying metrics to one such US Army organization.

A Software Development Process for Small Projects
IEEE Software, 2000The authors' development process integrates portions of an iterative, incremental process model with a quality assurance process that assesses each process phase's quality and a measurement process that collects data to guide process improvement. The process's goal is to produce the high quality and timely results required for today's market without ...

This chapter invites the reader into Scheibe's workshop, into the day-to-day work of an organ builder. Scheibe's work involved not just building and renovating large organs, but also regular maintenance and tuning, examinations of organs (some of them built by colleagues and competitors), submission of proposals to renovate or build new organs (some ...

Issues in Engineering: Journal of Professional Activities, 1980
Early in their careers civil engineers normally become project engineers on small projects. An example is used in this paper to illustrate how project management can be used with relative ease for such projects. The civil engineer who becomes a project engineer has entered the ranks of management and should start thinking like a manager.

Project Management for Small Projects: A Case Study
Proceedings of SPE Production Operations Symposium, 1991ABSTRACT Those principles and techniques referred to as "Project Management" have recently been applied to small oil and gas construction projects and the results have been observed in the efficiency with which such projects are completed.

The small projections property of C⁎-algebras
Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2018A \(C^\ast\)-algebra \(A\) is called a Rickart \(C^\ast\)-algebra if the left annihilator of every element is of the form \(Ap\), for some projection \(p\in A\). The authors give the following characterization: Theorem 2.4. \(A\) is a Rickart \(C^\ast\)-algebra if and only if the closure of every \(\sigma\)-open projection in \(A^{**}\) is open.
