Chaotic detection of small target in sea clutter

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993
A new method based on chaos and neural network theory for small target detection in sea clutter is presented. The authors present the signal model. They then describe a neural network trained with the least-mean-square (LMS) algorithm for the dynamic reconstruction of sea clutter.

SAR image enhancement for small target detection

2003 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003. Proceedings. (ICASSP '03)., 2003
The paper investigates the impact of SAR image enhancement on the performance of small target detection in SAR images. Three SAR image enhancement algorithms are evaluated on large SAR image data-sets. The evaluation results show that image enhancement can greatly improve the performance of false alarm mitigation, and that the level of performance ...

SVD-based scattered small targets detection

2014 International Conference on Multisensor Fusion and Information Integration for Intelligent Systems (MFI), 2014
Due to lack of sufficient shape and strength information about the targets present in the entire image obtained in a wide range of scenarios over a long distance, it is very hard to detect these targets using the existing detection methods. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a scattered small target detection algorithm based on ...

Infrared small target detection with compressive measurements

2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016
A novel scheme for infrared small target detection in compressive domain is presented. First, the original image is separated into two components, i.e., the target and the background. Next, we compress them individually. Finally, the compressed target image is utilized to construct the corresponding compressive detector to perform detection in ...

An Adaptation of Cnn for Small Target Detection in the Infrared

IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018
Due to the low signal to noise ratio and limited spatial resolution, small target detection in an infrared image is a challenging task. Existing methods often have high false alarm rates and low probabilities of detection when infrared small targets submerge in the background clutter.

Dim and small target detection based on their living environment

Digital Signal Processing, 2022
Abstract Dim and small targets detection in a cluttered background requires high discrimination features to separate them from the noisy environment. Previous local contrast measure based methods lack scale invariance and also cannot fully learn the features of target and target's living environment.

Improved small target detection for IR point target

2009 34th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2009
In the target detection algorithm based on the bivariate cubic facet fitting (BCFF), the target position can be selected so that the position has the maximum value or energy value of the filtered result. However, in the cluttered environment, it may generate a large number of clutters.

A Feature-Based Small Target Detection System

2014
Existing small target detection systems generally use the difference image between a predicted background image and an original image. This method has two disadvantages. First, to predict the background image, the size of the structural element has to be carefully selected considering the size of small targets. Second, because of blurring, clutter such

Small target detection using an optimization-based filter

2015 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2015
Small target detection is a critical problem in the Infrared Search And Track (IRST) system. Although it has been studied for years, there are some challenges remained, e.g. cloud edges and horizontal lines are likely to cause false alarms. This paper proposes a novel method using an optimization-based filter to detect infrared small target in heavy ...

Multiple Feature Analysis for Infrared Small Target Detection

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2017
Detection of small target has been an important and challenging task in infrared systems. Most detection algorithms which only use single metric are difficult to separate target from clutter completely. The false alarm may be high when there exists complex backgrounds.
