The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Quantification of Morphological Features in Non-Contrast Ultrasound Microvasculature Imaging [PDF]
Morphological features of small vessels provide invaluable information regarding underlying tissue, especially in cancerous tumors. This paper introduces methods for obtaining quantitative morphological features from microvasculature images obtained by non-contrast ultrasound imaging.

Automatic ultrasound vessel segmentation with deep spatiotemporal context learning [PDF]
Accurate, real-time segmentation of vessel structures in ultrasound image sequences can aid in the measurement of lumen diameters and assessment of vascular diseases. This, however, remains a challenging task, particularly for extremely small vessels that are difficult to visualize.

A comprehensive 1000 Genomes-based genome-wide association meta-analysis of coronary artery disease [PDF]
Existing knowledge of genetic variants affecting risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) is largely based on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) analysis of common SNPs.

Age-related cerebral small vessel disease and inflammaging
The continued increase in global life expectancy predicts a rising prevalence of age-related cerebral small vessel diseases (CSVD), which requires a better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms.

The role of circular RNAs in regulating cytokine signaling in cancer
Cytokines present in the tumor microenvironment fuel cancer development. Aberrant expression of circRNAs contributes to cancer progression. Cytokines are involved in regulating circRNA biogenesis. Furthermore, aberrantly expressed circRNAs regulate the expression of ligands, receptors, and downstream effectors involved in cytokine signaling to promote ...

Age-dependent expression of VEGFR2 in deep brain arteries in small vessel disease, CADASIL, and healthy brains [PDF]
Vascular myocytes are central to brain aging. Small vessel disease (SVD; arteriolosclerosis) is a widespread cause of lacunar stroke and vascular dementia, and is characterised by fibrosis and depletion of vascular myocytes in small penetrating ...
