Among other threats, secure components are subjected to physical attacks whose aim is to recover the secret information they store. Most of the work carried out to protect these components generally consists in developing protections (or countermeasures) taken one by one.

Abstract Factor-timing strategies in the U.S. produce weak returns and are strongly correlated to the basic factor-holding strategies. We present contrasting evidence from China, where actively managed stock mutual funds successfully time the size factor (small minus big) despite a negative unconditional loading.

Smart buildings and the smart grid
IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013So far the worlds of building automation and power networks have co-existed electrically attached but without data interaction, with different, and sometimes divergent, goals and requirements. The smartgrid community is coping nowadays with a new phase in the deployment of its vision: the integration of smart buildings, making use of their services and

Electric vehicles (EVs) are expected to be a major component of the smart grid. The rapid proliferation of EVs will introduce an unprecedented load on the existing electric grid due to the charging/discharging behavior of the EVs, thus motivating the need for novel approaches for routing EVs across the grid.

Three Times Smart – Smart Workplaces, Smart Lighting & Smart Glass
2017In the future workplaces, the new technology devices will be present at all times, so new spaces will need a new approach to lighting design, and in order to achieve this it will be necessary that the lighting systems, and the workplaces get smarter. New technology turns the present-day workplaces less efficient.

To change inanimate objects like offices, houses, cars, or glasses into smart, active helpmates they need to have perceptual intelligence. They need to begin paying attention to people and the surrounding situation the way another person would. That way they can begin to adapt their behavior to us, rather than the other way around.

Smart satellites in Smart Grids
2014 IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications (SmartGridComm), 2014Satellite services for users in smart grids may be studied from the perspectives of market and technology. Economic variation has led to the transition of satellite communications services among different spectrum segments. The short-term demand for capacity drives the potentially increased use of satellites operating in high frequency band.
