Smart lanthanide antennas for sensing water
8-Methoxy-4,5-dihydrocyclopenta[de]quinolin-2(1H)-one and quinolin-2(1H)-one phosphonate and carboxylate derivatives are selective antennas exhibiting Eu3+ and Tb3+ luminescence, and highly sensitive water sensors.

The study proposes a 1‐bit programmable metasurface based on flip‐disc display, named flip‐disc metasurface (FD‐MTS). This new design enables ultralow energy consumption while maintaining coding patterns. It also exhibits high scalability and multifunctional flexibility.

Powering the Future: A Cobalt‐Based Catalyst for Longer‐Lasting Zinc–Air Batteries
A novel N‐doped graphitic shell‐encapsulated Co catalyst reveals superior bifunctional ORR/OER activity in alkaline media, empowering outstanding liquid and quasi‐solid‐state ZAB activity. The system delivers long‐term durability, a peak power density of 127 mW cm−2 and successfully powers an LED and a mini fan.
