Self‐Advocacy Among Black Women During the Perinatal Period: Prevalence and Relationship to Patient Experiences

This study described self‐advocacy behaviors reported by Black women in the perinatal period, finding that women with more trusting, supportive relationships with their health care providers are more likely to self‐advocate. However, when women reported symptoms of depression they were less likely to report self‐advocacy.
