Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

The hydration behavior of C3S in seawater‐relevant solutions is studied based on experiments, boundary nucleation and growth (BNG) modeling, and machine learning. The main ions included in seawater modify hydration mechanisms, with MgCl2 showing the strongest acceleration effect at the same concentration.

Recent studies reveal a deep-rooted division in research on smart cities, which surfaces as a set of dichotomies that question whether smart city development should be based on a: (1) technology-led or holistic strategy; (2) double or quadruple-helix ...

Ethics of smart cities and smart societies
The special issue deals with the ethical effects that the digital revolution has brought about such as the normative implications of “smart cities” and "smart societies“. While the initial concept of smart cities was largely technology- and data-driven, this concept is currently being replaced by technology-enabled, human-centred solutions.

Thermally Stable Organic Synaptic Transistors Using a High‐Tg Polymer Electret
A high–glass‐transition‐temperature cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) electret enables thermally stable organic synaptic transistors for neuromorphic operation in harsh environments. UV–ozone treatment increases the trap density in COC, providing robust multilevel conductance and key synaptic functions (excitatory postsynaptic current/ inhibitory ...
