Emergent Locomotion in Self‐Sustained, Mechanically Connected Soft Matter Rings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally fueled, self‐moving twisted rings made from liquid crystal elastomers are investigated. By studying single rings and linked knots, it is shown how autonomous locomotion emerges through coupling between the rings. The movement is programmable via handedness control at connection points, offering insights into collective behavior and ...

Fully Passive Electrochemical Oxygen Sensor Enabled With Organic Electrochemical Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A wireless oxygen sensor that operates with low power without batteries, using organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) powered by near‐field communication (NFC) is presented. The sensor combines an oxygen‐permeable membrane and a gel electrolyte to detect oxygen in air and complex liquids, making way for sustainable sensor technologies.

Truffle tests for free -- Replaying Ethereum smart contracts for transparency [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The Ethereum blockchain is essentially a globally replicated public database. Programs called smart contracts can access this database. Over 10 million smart contracts have been deployed on the Ethereum blockchain. Executing a method of a smart contract generates a transaction that is also stored on the blockchain.

The Minimum Hybrid Contract (MHC): Combining legal and blockchain smart contracts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Corruption is a major global financial problem with billions of dollars rendered lost or unaccountable annually. Corruption through contract fraud is often conducted by withholding and/or altering financial information. When such scandals are investigated by authorities, financial and legal documents are usually altered to conceal the paper trail ...
