Modulating the strigolactone pathway to optimize tomato shoot branching for vertical farming

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Optimizing tomato architecture via CRISPR–Cas9 editing of strigolactone–related genes revealed that weak alleles can balance axillary shoot growth, yield, and ripening. Strong mutants reduced yield due to source—sink imbalance, but a weak allele maintained productivity, highlighting its potential for space–efficient cultivation systems.

Small‐Scale Village Farmers, Farming Imaginaries and Enrichment Value Creation in Ankara, Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT How are we to understand the continuing importance of small‐scale village farming in a country like Turkey, which is undergoing an expanding process of industrialization and commodification in agriculture? There are two sides to this question: One concerns land use reconfiguration for commercial purposes, contraction of small‐scale farmland ...

Metabolo‐Transcriptomics Analyses Reveal Alfalfa Adaptation to Combined Saline‐Alkali and Low‐Temperature Stress in the Field

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is known as the ‘King of Forage’ because of its high protein content and excellent palatability. Alfalfa productivity is adversely affected in cold regions with saline‐alkali soils. However, the mechanisms underlying the response of alfalfa to combined saline‐alkali and low‐temperature stress under field conditions
