Anticipatory lighting in smart building
2012 IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC), 2012Assistive living technologies can help the elderly and the people with disabilities with their daily life. The smart building solutions provide means to implement these systems in homes and can offer valuable applications, for example, an alarming service notifying relatives in case of irregular behavior.

Orchestrating light – Gesture-based control of smart lighting
Lighting Research & Technology, 2016In this paper, a gesture-based control system for smart lighting management is introduced. The system consists of multiple depth camera sensors that track the users’ positions, movements and gestures in real-time and forward the data to the main computer where the lighting control commands are generated.

Connected smart lighting refers to lighting installations in which the luminaires, with integrated sensors, are interconnected in a wired or wireless network to both control and monitor the lighting. Microcontrollers and many sensors, like light, occupancy, temperature, humidity and noise sensors, are small enough to be incorporated in a luminaire.

This paper presents a method in reducing wasted energy within buildings and homes using blinds that utilize natural, ambient light from the sun. Rather than having unnecessary light from a light source, the automated light sensing smart blinds sense the amount of light outside the window and in the room, and accordingly adjust the angle of the blinds ...
