Angewandte Chemie, EarlyView.The excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) photoswitch tpmSA, which features an oxygen−acceptor, exhibits higher photochromic contrast (ΔE*Lab>74) than its nitrogen‐acceptor Schiff base analogues (ΔE*Lab<30). Theoretical calculations indicate that tpmSA effectively suppresses GSIPT, thereby enhancing the contrast.
