Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

A Piezo-Sensor-Based “Smart Tire” System for Mobile Robots and Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2008
In this paper, we present the development of a tire rubber deformation sensing system that provides the critical information for understanding and estimation of wheel/ground interactions for mobile robots and vehicles. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based sensors are designed and fabricated to embed on the inner tread surface to measure the tire rubber

Dynamic Disulfide Ionogels for Self‐Healing, Transparent, and Elastic E‐Skins

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A dynamic covalent ionogel is designed via polymer–ionic liquid interaction control. The interplay between ionic liquid compatibility, viscosity, and concentration governs polymer segmental dynamics, which in turn regulates disulfide exchange kinetics and mechanical durability.
