Communication with smart transformers in rural settings

Proceedings of IEEE East-West Design & Test Symposium (EWDTS 2014), 2014
Smart-grid-enabled transformers have unique challenges in rural settings. One such challenge is that of effective and reliable communication of data. Communication infrastructure in rural areas is often elementary and transformers should accommodate this. Communication and sensor devices installed on these smart transformers should also be reliable and

Transforming Smart Cities with Spatial Computing

2018 IEEE International Smart Cities Conference (ISC2), 2018
Spatial methods have a rich history of reforming city infrastructure. For example, John Snow’s 1854 London Cholera map spurred cities to protect drinking water via sewer systems and to increase green spaces for public health. Today, geospatial data and mapping are among the technologies that cities use the most due to strategic (e.g., long-term ...

Automatic and Smart Content Transformation of Video Lectures

2021 IEEE 18th Annual Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC), 2021
The lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has forced many educational institutions around the world to produce video lectures in order to support their students. A popular approach was to produce video lectures with a generic layout without considering neither the type of student nor the type of device used by the student.

MODAL-WAVELET TRANSFORM AS A SMART VISUALIZATION TOOL

International Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information Processing, 2006
A method of information processings based on the classical field theory is outlined to derive the modal-wavelet transform (MWT) as a wavelet-like orthonormal transform. The theoretical background and application of MWT are described. The bases of MWT are derived from modal analysis of the potential field equations.

The smart internet

Proceedings of the 2009 Conference of the Center for Advanced Studies on Collaborative Research - CASCON '09, 2009
Key architectural elements of the web, namely, HTTP, URL and HTML enable a very simple user model of the web based on hyperlinks. While this model allows browser-based access to a wide array of online content and resources, the limitations in user experience provided in this interaction model are increasingly apparent.
