Rust fungus Puccinia smilacis on Smilax excelsa in Anatolia
2005Puccinia smilacis Schwein., member of the family Pucciniaceae (Uredinales, Basidiomycota) is reported for the first time on Smilax excelsa L., from Turkey. The morphological and microscopical features of this fungus are described and illustrated based on Turkish samples.

The fruits of Smilax excelsa L. were gathered in November 19 9 2 from Istanbul University Forestry Faculty Arburatum in Bahçeköy. The plant was identified by Assoc. Prof.Dr.Asuman EFE and is registered in Istanbul University Forestry Faculty Herbarium with the number İSTO-3926.

This study investigated the effects of melocan leaf extract (ME), obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide (Sc-CO2) extraction, on the quality characteristics of beef meatballs during cold storage (0, 3, 6, and 9 days). ME was incorporated at three levels (0.1 %, 0.5 %, 1 % – marked as ME0.1, ME0.5 and ME1).
