In Brazil, the visibility of newly arrived Black African migrants is a test of collective emotion and spatial flexibility. This chapter mixes academic scholarship, personal reflections and ethnographic fiction based on anthropological fieldwork conducted in São Paulo related to Aparelha Luzia (AL), a Black cultural centre.

Shakespeare, 2015This article analyses the dramatic functions of the smile in Shakespeare's plays as a facial gesture which can either reveal what a character is thinking, or conceal feelings. It is at its most theatrically complex in Twelfth Night as a thematic and structural element, and Malvolio's smiling is the most extended example.

The evaluation and analysis of the face, lips, gingival tissues and teeth are all considered in this process.
