Contribution of ammonium ions to sulfidation-flotation of smithsonite

Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2017
Abstract Sulfidation-flotation is commonly performed to recover base metal oxide ores. Sulfidation could become the key process in recovering zinc from zinc oxide ores. We investigated the common zinc oxide mineral. An ammonium salt was used to enhance sulfidation-flotation of smithsonite.

The stability of smithsonite

Economic Geology, 1956
The P (sub CO 2 ) -T curve for the reaction ZnCO 3 ZnO + CO 2 has been determined experimentally up to 50,000 lbs/in. 2 of CO 2 . At 10,000, 30,000 and 50,000 lbs/in. 2 the curve passes through 310, 410 and 460 degrees C respectively.

Experimental determination of thermodynamic characteristics of smithsonite

The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2012
Abstract The heat capacity of natural zinc carbonate (smithsonite, ZnCO3) has been measured by the method of low-temperature adiabatic calorimetry over the temperature range of (4.4 to 320) K. Its thermodynamic functions have been calculated based on the experimental data on the heat capacity.

Smithsonite flotation using mixed anionic/cationic collector

Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy, 2009
Abstract The surface interaction and adsorption of the components in a mixture of surfactants are of considerable interest for both practical and theoretical reasons. The flotation behaviour of smithsonite in the presence of sodium sulphide (Na2S) and a mixture of potassium amyl xanthate (KAX) and dodecylamine (DDA) and its adsorption on smithsonite ...

Optical and EPR investigations on smithsonite minerals

Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 2004
Optical and EPR investigations have been made on two smithsonite (ZnCO3) minerals, one originating from the USA and the other from the UK. The optical spectra reveal the existence of Cu(II) as impurity in both the samples; and site symmetry for Cu(II) is confirmed to be tetragonally distorted octahedral.

Study on the sulfidation behavior of smithsonite

Applied Surface Science, 2015
Abstract Zinc extraction from low-grade mineral resources of oxidized zinc has recently become a focus of study. Sulfidation is an important process in oxidized ore flotation. In this study, the influence of sulfur ion adsorption on smithsonite surface was investigated with the use of zeta potential, inductively coupled plasma (ICP), scanning ...
