Estimating structural mean models with multiple instrumental variables using the generalised method of moments [PDF]

open access: yes
Instrumental variables analysis using genetic markers as instruments is now a widely used technique in epidemiology and biostatistics. As single markers tend to explain only a small proportion of phenotypical variation, there is increasing interest in ...

Two-gigapascal-strong ductile soft magnets

open access: yesNature Communications
Soft magnetic materials (SMMs) are indispensable for electromechanical energy conversion in high-efficiency applications, but they are exposed to increasing mechanical loading conditions in electric motors due to higher rotational speeds.

The Use of Hirshfeld Surface Analysis Tools to Study the Intermolecular Interactions in Single Molecule Magnets

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
Intermolecular interactions have proved to play an important role in properties of SMMs such as quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM), and they also reduce the rate of magnetic relaxation, as through the influence they have on QTM, they quicken the ...

Pump-Probe Experiments on the Single-Molecule Magnet Fe8 : Measurement of Excited Level Lifetimes

open access: yes, 2007
We present magnetization measurements on the single molecule magnet Fe8 in the presence of pulsed microwave radiation. A pump-probe technique is used with two microwave pulses with frequencies of 107 GHz and 118 GHz and pulse lengths of several ...

Magnetic hysteresis up to 80 kelvin in a dysprosium metallocene single-molecule magnet

open access: yesScience, 2018
Breaking through the nitrogen ceiling Single-molecule magnets could prove useful in miniaturizing a wide variety of devices. However, their application has been severely hindered by the need to cool them to extremely low temperature using liquid helium ...

Overcoming the Trade‐Off Between Magnetic Coupling and Electrical Insulation in Soft Magnetic Materials via Nanochain Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs a nanochain engineering approach combined with an in situ oxidation strategy to fabricate self‐insulating iron‐based magnetic nanochains, addressing the challenge of balancing magnetic coupling and electrical insulation in soft magnetic materials.

Increasing the Magnetic Blocking Temperature of Single-Molecule Magnets.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2023
The synthesis of single-molecule magnets (SMMs), magnetic complexes capable of retaining magnetization blocking for a long time at elevated temperatures, has been a major concern for magnetochemists over the last three decades.

Targeting PRKCN, an Essential Driver Orchestrating mTOR‐IRF4 Axis Independently of Kinase Activity, in Multiple Myeloma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Constitutive PRKCN expression is driven by super‐enhancers and modulated by NF‐κB signaling in multiple myeloma (MM). PRKCN activates mTORC1/2‐IRF4 signaling axis and favors tumor cell growth independently of its kinase activity. IRF4 reciprocally promotes PRKCN transcription, creating a feed‐forward loop.

Exercise and Nutrition Prehabilitation Program During Preoperative Chemotherapy Followed by Esophagectomy in Older Patients With Esophageal Cancer: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This prospective randomized trial evaluated whether prehabilitation, exercise and nutrition intervention, enhance skeletal muscle mass during neoadjuvant chemotherapy in older patients with esophageal cancer undergoing esophagectomy. We also investigated whether exercise alone was sufficient to increase skeletal muscle mass, and whether nutritional ...
