Crop calendars for the US, USSR, and Canada in support of the early warning project [PDF]
New crop calendars are produced for U.S. regions where several years of periodic growth stage observations are available on a CRD basis. Preexisting crop calendars from the LACIE are also collected as are U.S.

We applied factorial soil warming and moisture reduction treatments directly in the field in the Australian subalpine to assess changes to surface‐active soil arthropod abundance, diversity and community composition. After identifying nearly 50,000 specimens to order, we found a stronger effect of sampling month than treatment.

Genome Sequence and Population Genomic Analysis of Cronartium quercuum f.sp. fusiforme
ABSTRACT Fusiform rust, caused by Cronartium quercuum f. sp. fusiforme (Cqf), is the most severe disease of planted southern pines in the south‐eastern United States. Despite the critical role pathogen genomics play in disease outcomes, the population structure and genetic variability of Cqf remain poorly characterised.

Phenological Shifts in Wood Formation Tracked by Frost Rings Across Two Centuries
Rapid warming is reshaping plant phenology across ecosystems. We present an indirect retrospective approach to infer cambial phenology by analysing the timing and occurrence of frost rings in three Alpine conifers. We found that the cold spells responsible for frost ring formation typically involve temperature dropping below freezing for an average of ...

Increasing the resilience of the Australian alpine flora to climate change [PDF]
The alpine region around Australia’s highest mountain, Mt Kosciuszko, is part of one of the three most at risk ecosystems in Australia from climate change.

Nutrient Peak Shifts in the Arctic: Implications for Migratory Herbivores Under Climate Change
ABSTRACT Aim Quantifying how the timing and spatial variability of Arctic vegetation nutrient peaks are projected to shift under climate change, and assessing potential consequences for migratory herbivores that rely on seasonal synchrony with peak plant quality. Location Circumpolar Arctic, with emphasis on tundra regions.

Abstract Riverine dissolved silicon (DSi) dynamics reflect integrated geologic, hydrologic, climatic, and ecological controls. We compiled annual DSi data for 337 rivers across four continents and trained interpretable machine‐learning models to predict concentrations and yields from 28 watershed variables.

Abstract Spring dust storms in the U.S. Southwest significantly impact environmental and human systems, yet their climatological patterns and driving mechanisms remain poorly understood. Using two decades of MERRA‐2 reanalysis data and self‐organizing map clustering, we identified four distinct dust transport pathways from surrounding and remote ...

Assessing satellite-derived land product quality for earth system science applications: results from the ceos lpv sub-group [PDF]
The value of satellite derived land products for science applications and research is dependent upon the known accuracy of the data. CEOS (Committee on Earth Observation Satellites), the space arm of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), plays a key ...

Land Surface Phenology from MODIS: Characterization of the Collection 5 Global Land Cover Dynamics Product [PDF]
Information related to land surface phenology is important for a variety of applications. For example, phenology is widely used as a diagnostic of ecosystem response to global change.
