Experiments on mechanics of flowing snow
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1982Abstract Results are summarized from a number of experiments performed on granular and aggregate blocks of snow to determine the mechanics of the flow of the material. A Bingham locking property is shown to apply to snow flowing at low speeds, and the shear stress for locking is evaluated for one test configuration to be T 0 = 540 N m −2 .

Mechanics of the Turning Snow Ski
1985A snow ski turning at a constant radius and a constant speed is analyzed through a model of the skier/snow/ski dynamic system. The skier is modeled as a rigid body pivoted at the ski; the cutting properties of the snow are empirically modeled from ice cutting data; the ski is represented as a Euler-Bernoulli beam.

On the mechanics of snow slab release
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1990Abstract The mechanics of snow slab release is considered from the viewpoint of mechanics of continua. Its result shows that snow cannot fracture until a critical strain rate and a critical fracture strain is reached in a weak layer of the snowpack.

MECHANICS OF SKI SLIDING ON SNOW: CURRENT STATUS AND PROSPECTS
Since, in modern high-performance sports, the technical component is decisive, the ski running surface is an important element of cross-country skiing. This paper presents a review of papers on sliding mechanics, discusses modern methods for improving it,
