Evapotranspiration Estimation and Irrigation Performance Assessment Using Remote Sensing: A Case Study of the Ergani Dam Irrigation System (Turkey)

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Efficient water resource management is critical for sustainable agriculture, with evapotranspiration (ET) serving as a key parameter. Remote sensing (RS) techniques offer cost‐effective approaches for ET estimation and irrigation performance assessment in extensive agricultural systems.

Changing Water Resources in the Indus Basin: A Multi‐Model Budyko‐Based Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Budyko‐based analysis evaluates historical (1962–2005) and future hydroclimatic change across the Indus River Basin. Budyko shifts indicate rising atmospheric evaporative demand and increasing energy limitation under future scenarios. ABSTRACT Assessing hydroclimatic variability and future water availability is crucial for sustainable water‐resource ...

Bias Correction of ERA5 Temperature Across Five Topoclimatic Clusters: A Comparative Evaluation of Four Methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
ERA5 near‐surface temperature over South America exhibits systematic cold biases in daily maximum temperature and warm biases in daily minimum temperature. To address the continent's strong climatic and topographic heterogeneity, South America was partitioned into five topoclimatic clusters, and four bias‐correction approaches were evaluated. The Multi‐

Heat, Health and Holidays: Reported Heat Related Adjustments to Australian Tourist Behaviour

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
This study assessed how climate‐related hazards affect Australian tourists' travel planning. While 80% of tourists report no impact, the 20% who do experience disruption most commonly change their activities, timing, or destination, with heat and rain affecting the same proportion of tourists across beach, city, nature, and family tourism types ...

Intercomparison of a Regional Climate Model Ensemble for Selected European Catchments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
This study analyzes a regional climate model ensemble for water cycle and water resource research with two models. Results show that ICON generally outperforms TSMP1 simulations, mainly with 2‐m temperature and precipitation. These findings serve as a baseline evaluation that shows how key structural differences influence the model skill.

A New Hydroclimatic Signature: Negative NAO Dominance Under Weak La Niña Conditions During the 2025–2026 Northwest Africa Floods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Conceptual hydroclimatic pathway linking the concurrent negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) phase and weak La Niña conditions to extreme February rainfall and flash flooding in Northwest Africa. ABSTRACT The winter of 2025–2026 in Morocco exhibited a rapid hydroclimatic transition from prolonged drought to widespread flooding, representing an ...

Mechanism of ion migration from the substrate material into snow cover at the end of the cold period

open access: yesЛëд и снег
Earlier, it was established that maximum mineralization of the contact layer of snow occurs in spring at the interface with substrates (soil or ice). This study analyzes the temperature and moisture conditions during this period at the interface of the ...

Decoupling glacier retreat and surface stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (Slovenia), insights from in situ cosmogenic 36Cl exposure and depth‐profile ages

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glaciokarst landscapes pose distinctive challenges for cosmogenic dating because meltwater and runoff can be rapidly rerouted into ponors and conduit networks, weakening glacier–river coupling and promoting local sediment storage. We reconstruct glacier retreat and postglacial stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (SW Slovenia) using in situ ...

Assessing plant water status: Part 2 – Non‐destructive and remote sensing approaches

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Precise, real time and non‐destructive assessment of plant water status is important for advancing plant physiological understanding, optimizing water usage, improving crop resilience and supporting precision agriculture in the face of increasingly variable climatic conditions.
