Snow water equivalents from snow depths: improvements of the DeltaSNOW model

2022
<p>Snow water equivalent (<em>SWE</em>) is probably the most important snowpack property, but due to various reasons it has been measured by far less frequently and continuously than, e.g., snow depth (<em>HS</em>). Recent modelling efforts led to ΔSNOW, a semi-empirical

Areal distribution of snow water equivalent evaluated by snow cover monitoring

Water Resources Research, 1981
A method is proposed to determine the areal distribution of the maximum seasonal water equivalent of snow in mountain basins. Because a sufficient density of direct measurements is not available in remote, inaccessible areas, the accumulation of snow at the start of the melting season is reconstituted.

Addressing Bias in Snow Water Equivalent Measurements

2017
Wintertime snow precipitation is the largest precipitation type in the northwestern United States. For example, in Wyoming at least 70% of the State's water originates as snowfall. The majority of this snowfall deposits on mountain ranges where it accumulates over the winter season and is released into rivers during the runoff season (April to July ...
