Image reconstruction in SNR units: A general method for SNR measurement [PDF]

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2005
AbstractThe method for phased array image reconstruction of uniform noise images may be used in conjunction with proper image scaling as a means of reconstructing images directly in SNR units. This facilitates accurate and precise SNR measurement on a per pixel basis.

On video SNR scalability

Proceedings 1998 International Conference on Image Processing. ICIP98 (Cat. No.98CB36269), 2002
We compare two SNR scalable video codecs. The first codec (CODEC1) is a three-layer single-pass quantization algorithm based on H.263 and extends the work presented by Robers (see Master's Thesis Northwestern University, 1997) and Robers, Kondi and Katsaggelos (see Proc. SPIE Conf. on Visual Comm. and Image Proc., p.201-12, 1998).

SNR Maximization Hashing

IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, 2015
We propose a novel robust hashing algorithm based on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) maximization to learn compact binary codes, where the SNR metric is used to select a set of projection directions, and one hash bit is extracted from each projection direction. We first motivate this approach under a Gaussian model for the underlying signals, in which case

An investigation of SNRs in the magellanic clouds—SNR B0450-708 and SNR B0455-687

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2001
We are studying the nature and the spatial distribution of ∼80 supernova remnants (SNRs) in the Magellanic Clouds (MCs). A multi-frequency comparison of these sources involves the latest radio, IR, optical and X-ray surveys with angular resolution of ∼1′. Their morphology, birth rate and overall properties are investigated and compared with SNRs in our

Study of the Surface Laplacian SNR

2005 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 27th Annual Conference, 2005
The surface Laplacian involves the second derivative of the potential. It will give different and perhaps more localized information concerning the sources that give rise to the surface potential distribution. In this article we study the SNR of the surface Laplacian, and figure out the measuring possibility of the surface Laplacian of some ...

On the Blind SNR Estimation for IF Signals

First International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control - Volume I (ICICIC'06), 2006
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is a widely used significant parameter in communication systems. An eigenvector decomposition and subspace approach is employed for the blind SNR estimation for Intermediate Frequency (IF) signals in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel.

An LDPC decoder with SNR information

2013 9th International Conference on Information, Communications & Signal Processing, 2013
In this work an LDPC decoder which complies with IEEE 802.11n is proposed and implemented. The code rate is 1/2 and the code length is 648. We used partially parallel structure to reduce the area. Additionally the SNR information is applied to improve the BER performance.

Limitations on SNR estimator accuracy

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2002
We consider the samples of a pure tone in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) for which we wish to determine the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) defined here to be /spl alpha/=(A/sup 2//2/spl sigma//sup 2/), where A is the tone amplitude, and /spl sigma//sup 2/ is the noise variance.
