SNR Estimation with Heterogeneous Frames

2008 4th Advanced Satellite Mobile Systems, 2008
We study the problem of estimating the signal-to noise ratio (SNR) in linearly modulated systems. It is assumed that the frame of observations consists of several subframes, so that the symbols in different subframes are drawn from different constellations.

Optical SNR estimation using machine learning

Journal of Optical Communications, 2021
Abstract A technique for the estimation of an optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) using machine learning algorithms has been proposed. The algorithms are trained with parameters derived from eye-diagram via simulation in 10 Gb/s On-Off Keying (OOK) nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) data signal.

Coherent snr estimator performance

IEEE 60th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2004. VTC2004-Fall. 2004, 2005
Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is an important system parameter in mobile communication systems and other advanced communication systems. Coherent and noncoherent SNR estimators can be used to dynamically estimate SNR. In this paper, a coherent SNR estimator is proposed and its performance is provided.

Frequency rate estimation at high SNR

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1997
The problem of estimating the frequency rate-of-change of complex-valued frequency-modulated signals from noisy observations is considered. The performance of four related estimators is studied, both analytically and by means of simulations, and their relationship to the estimators proposed by Djuric and Kay (1990) and Lang and Musicus (1989) is ...

SNR estimation in HF communications channel

2012 6th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EUCAP), 2012
The authors summarize methodology and survey results of SNR and BER estimation for HF medium-range communication links over the Estonian mainland. HF propagation and noise environment were monitored since recent years in order to provide support to military and paramilitary users.

Improved SNR Estimator for QPSK Modulations

2010 International Conference on E-Product E-Service and E-Entertainment, 2010
A new non-data-aided signal-to-noise ratio estimator for QPSK modulations in additive white Gaussian noise is proposed. It uses a simplified structure to achieve a good performance with less computational complexity. Simulation results show that the new estimator has smaller bias than existing estimators. The small bias and low computational complexity

Limitations on SNR estimator accuracy

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2002
We consider the samples of a pure tone in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) for which we wish to determine the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) defined here to be /spl alpha/=(A/sup 2//2/spl sigma//sup 2/), where A is the tone amplitude, and /spl sigma//sup 2/ is the noise variance.

SNR Estimation for DVB-S2 System

25th AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (organized by APSCC), 2007
[Abstract] This paper proposes an efficient signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimation method, especially costumed to the second generation digital video broadcasting via satellite (DVB-S2) system. The proposed method estimates SNR by investigating the distributions of the received signals.

Improving SNR Estimation for Autonomous Receivers

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2005
A method by which a popular signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimator can be reconfigured to yield improved performance is proposed. The reconfiguration consists of partitioning the symbol interval into a larger (but even) number of subdivisions than the two that have been traditionally suggested for this estimator but still processing the observables in ...

SNR Estimation Methods for UWB Systems

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2007
The problem of estimating the signal-to-noise ratio for time-hopping binary pulse position modulated signals, time- hopping binary phase shift keying signals, and direct-sequence binary phase shift keying signals in an ultra-wide bandwidth (UWB) system is studied.
