Generalized Moment-Based Method for SNR Estimation
2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007This paper investigates non-data-aided (NDA) SNR estimation for QAM transmission over additive white Gaussian noise channels. It proposes a novel class of moment-based SNR estimators. This class is found to be a generalization of the well-known moment-based M2M4 SNR estimation method for PSK modulation.

Turbo equalization with iterative online SNR estimation
IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2005, 2005Theoretically, it is necessary to estimate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the channel when using a maximum a posteriori (MAP) or log-MAP turbo equalizer. In this paper, we study the effect of an SNR mismatch on the bit error rate (BER) performance of log-MAP and max-log-MAP turbo equalizers, and propose an iterative online SNR estimation scheme ...

Effective SNR estimation in OFDM system simulation
IEEE GLOBECOM 1998 (Cat. NO. 98CH36250), 2002The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the standard measure of analog noise attribute, is used to assess the quality of the final demodulation signals in a orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. The approach is based on the statistical properties of a random process after the Fourier transform.

Blind SNR estimation of OFDM signals
2010 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2010A low-complexity blind algorithm is presented for estimating the Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal transmitted over a frequency-selective channel with colored or white noise. The algorithm only uses the second moment statistics in the frequency domain without requiring training symbols or pilot ...

The NDA SNR estimation for QAM signals
14th IEEE Proceedings on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2003. PIMRC 2003., 2004This paper proposes a non-data-aided (NDA) SNR estimation algorithm for QAM signals in additive Gauss white noise channel and on the condition of the equivalent priori probabilities of every constellation signals by using second statistics. The detail analysis and computer simulation for 128QAM signals have been done.

Maximum likelihood snr estimators for digital receivers
PACRIM. 2005 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and signal Processing, 2005., 2005The problem of estimating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is investigated, both for static and slowly fading channels without memory. Maximum likelihood SNR estimators are derived for sampled signal processing receivers as well as continuous time signal processing receivers.

Image SNR estimation using the autoregressive modeling
2010 International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems, 2010A number of techniques have been proposed during the last two decades for Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) estimation in images. The majority of these techniques are based on the cross-correlation function of two images of the same area. However, the need for two images to estimate SNR value confines these techniques to non-stored images and thus limits ...

An SNR-Assisted Crosstalk Channel Estimation Technique
2009 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2009In this paper, we present a new method to estimate the crosstalk channels in VDSL systems, allowing to implement well-known pre-compensation schemes. As opposed to previously presented methods, this estimation only requires minimal changes to the current standard and equipments.

Turbo decoder SNR estimation with RAKE reception
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2009The joint performance of a turbo decoder and RAKE receiver using the MAP algorithm depends on the accuracy of the channel reliability factor. In a high data rate/low processing gain environment, inherent interference that results from non-idealities of the RAKE receiver complicate the estimation of the channel reliability factor.
