Non-Local Compressive Sensing Based SAR Tomography [PDF]
Tomographic SAR (TomoSAR) inversion of urban areas is an inherently sparse reconstruction problem and, hence, can be solved using compressive sensing (CS) algorithms.

Bioinspired auditory sound localisation for improving the signal to noise ratio of socially interactive robots [PDF]
In this paper we describe a bioinspired hybrid architecture for acoustic sound source localisation and tracking to increase the signal to noise ratio (SNR) between speaker and background sources for a socially interactive robot's speech recogniser system.

Improved SNR estimation for BPSK and QPSK signals
A novel non-data-aided SNR estimation technique for BPSK and QPSK modulations in complex additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) is proposed. It uses the constant amplitude property of in-phase and quadrature components of these modulations to achieve an improved performance.

Mutual Information and Minimum Mean-square Error in Gaussian Channels
This paper deals with arbitrarily distributed finite-power input signals observed through an additive Gaussian noise channel. It shows a new formula that connects the input-output mutual information and the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) achievable by ...

Sensitivity analysis of the channel estimation deviation to the MAP decoding algorithm
As a necessary input parameter for MAP decoding algorithm,SNR was normally obtained from the channel estimation unit.Corresponding research indicated that SNR estimation deviation degraded significantly the performance of Turbo decoding.MAP decoding ...

Non-Data-Aided Parameter Estimation in an Additive White Gaussian Noise Channel
Non-data-aided (NDA) parameter estimation is considered for binary-phase-shift-keying transmission in an additive white Gaussian noise channel. Cramer-Rao lower bounds (CRLBs) for signal amplitude, noise variance, channel reliability constant and bit ...

Statistics of the MLE and Approximate Upper and Lower Bounds - Part 1: Application to TOA Estimation [PDF]
In nonlinear deterministic parameter estimation, the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) is unable to attain the Cramer-Rao lower bound at low and medium signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) due the threshold and ambiguity phenomena.

Analog-to-digtial (A/D) conversion plays a crucial role when it comes to the design of energy-efficient and fast signal processing systems. As its complexity grows exponentially with the number of output bits, significant savings are possible when ...

Estimation of Sparse MIMO Channels with Common Support [PDF]
We consider the problem of estimating sparse communication channels in the MIMO context. In small to medium bandwidth communications, as in the current standards for OFDM and CDMA communication systems (with bandwidth up to 20 MHz), such channels are ...
