The impact of the cryopreservation period on the CD34+ cell viability of cryopreserved cord blood units

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Cord blood (CB) is an important source for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation because of its long‐term cryopreservation. However, concerns remain regarding the potential decline in CB quality with prolonged cryopreservation.

Susceptibility Source Separation Unveils Paramagnetic and Diamagnetic Trajectories in Healthy Brains From 5 to 90 Years

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2026.
This work analyzed healthy brain lifespan trajectories of paramagnetic iron and diamagnetic myelin with three common susceptibility source separation methods (χ‐separation, χ‐sepnet and APART‐QSM). Deep gray and white matter regions of 339 subjects (5–90 years) were studied.

Feasibility Study of a Semi‐Circular Dosimeter for Patient‐Specific Quality Assurance in High‐Dose‐Rate Brachytherapy

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
A semi‐circular multipixel dosimeter is fabricated and evaluated as a feasibility study toward patient‐specific quality assurance (PSQA) in brachytherapy. It enables measurement of radial dose distribution while maintaining constant distance and angle from the radioactive source.

Is smokeless tobacco a healthier option in patients with AUD? A follow-up study during treatment

open access: yesHarm Reduction Journal
Introduction Smoking is negatively related to mental health, but there is a paucity of research on the relationship between the use of smokeless tobacco, such as snus, and mental health outcomes, especially in people with alcohol use disorders (AUD). The

Robust Cell Segmentation for Size Distribution Estimation via Synthetic‐Data Training

open access: yesBiotechnology Journal, Volume 21, Issue 7, July 2026.
Graphical Abstract and Lay Summary This study presents an annotation‐free cell segmentation pipeline for the real‐time monitoring of microbial cell size distributions. By automatically extracting single cells from diluted samples using edge detection and compositing them to create dense synthetic training data, a Mask R‐CNN model was trained without ...

Home After Loss: Housing Relocation and Affordability Stress Following Spousal Loss

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Spousal loss is a major life transition that may reshape one's socioeconomic and psychological conditions, yet little is known about how housing trajectories change before and after spousal loss. This study examines how spousal loss affects housing relocation and housing affordability stress over time, and whether these trajectories differ ...
