Detoxification of SO2 in conifers differing in SO2-tolerance
Planta, 1995Contents of organic sulfur, sulfate and the inorganic cations K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Mn2+ and Na+ were compared in needles of three conifer species differing in tolerance to chronic SO2 immissions. Sulfate and organic sulfur compounds were also measured in bark and wood.

The ESR spectrum of normal and 17O labeled SO2− in aqueous solutions of Na2S2O4 and in γ-irradiated K2S2O5 has been studied. The 33S and 17O hyperfine tensors are very nearly axially symmetric with parallel and perpendicular principal values of 58.0 ± 0.5 and 4 ± 4 G for 33S and 30.0 ± 0.5 and 3 ± 3 G for 17O. The principal values of the g tensor are 2.

Vibrational Relaxation in Pure SO2 and SO2/Ar Mixtures
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1967Sound absorption and velocity measurements have been made in pure SO2 and mixtures of 25% and 50% Ar with SO2 at room temperature, 400°, and 500°K. The results confirm earlier reports of a multiple relaxation process. The data have been fit with both series and parallel relaxation curves and the temperature dependence of the individual relaxation times
