High Light Utilization and Color Rendering in Vacuum‐Deposited Semitransparent Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, low bandgap (≈1.55 eV) semitransparent perovskite solar cells (ST‐PSCs) having thin (thickness < ≈100 nm) perovskite layers and transparent conductive oxide‐based rear electrodes are fabricated using vacuum‐deposition methods. Two different ST‐PSCs demonstrated a high light utilization efficiency value of 4.2 (PCE: 9.26% and AVT: 45.3 ...

Protocol for qualitative analysis of lysosome immunoprecipitation from patient-derived glioblastoma stem-like cells

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Lysosomes are critical for the sustenance of glioblastoma stem-like cells (GSCs) properties. We present a protocol to enrich and purify lysosomes from patient-derived GSCs in culture.

‘No comfort talking when there’s a man around’: Maura Laverty’s Tolka Row (1951) and a neglected tradition of popular drama at the Gate Theatre, Dublin

open access: yesReview of Irish Studies in Europe, 2021
This essay presents a case for Maura Laverty’s play Tolka Row (1951) to be recognised as a highly-accomplished prototype of the soap opera in Ireland. It argues that Tolka Row is an important Irish iteration of a quintessentially modern form that swept ...

High‐Performance Zero‐Gap Glycerol‐Fed Electrolyzer for C3 Chemicals and Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a dynamic, self‐regulating operation strategy that enables selective glycerol electrooxidation in the OER‐free regime, co‐producing C3 chemicals and hydrogen at cell voltages below 1.25 V. Voltage‐ and temperature‐resolved analyses define optimal operating conditions, achieving a sustained current density of 500 mA cm−2 at ∼1.21 V ...

Biosurfactants: A Covid-19 Perspective

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
The recent outbreak in severe acute respiratory syndrome – coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) has demonstrated the complete inability of nations across the world to cope with the pressures of a global pandemic, especially one in which the only current feasible ...

“Young” Soap Films

open access: yesLangmuir, 2001
If we pull out rapidly a metallic frame out of a surfactant solution, we arrive at a "young" soap film with relatively simple features, as noticed first by Lucassen. The weight of the film is equilibrated by a vertical gradient of surface tension. At each level, the local solution concentration equilibrates with the local monolayers.

Soap films as two-dimensional fluids: Diffusion and flow fields

open access: yes, 2014
We observe tracer particles diffusing in soap films to measure the two-dimensional (2D) viscous properties of the films. We make soap films with a variety of water-glycerol mixtures and of differing thicknesses.

Ion‐Reconfigurable “N”‐Shaped Antiambipolar Behavior in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A unique N‐shaped negative differential transconductance (NDT) characteristics is demonstrated in single‐polymer organic electrochemical transistors through a sequential doping–redox–doping process driven by iodide ions. This redox‐driven mechanism enables low‐voltage, ion‐controlled reconfigurability and tunable current modulation, allowing seamless ...

Monitoring concentration and lipid signature of plasma extracellular vesicles from HR+ metastatic breast cancer patients under CDK4/6 inhibitors treatment

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell‐derived small membrane structures that transport various molecules. They have emerged as potential circulating biomarkers for monitoring responses to cancer therapies. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize

Ultra‐Thin Soft Pneumatic Actuation for Minimally Invasive Neural Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parylene C is a common polymer in bioelectronics, favored for its biological and chemical inertness. However, this makes bonding layers of Parylene C together very challenging. Here it is a laser to selectively weld layers of Parylene C to create high‐pressure fluidic actuation devices.
