The Shifting Balance of Private and Public Welfare Activity in the United Kingdom, 1979 to 2007 [PDF]

open access: yes
The balance between private and public sectors in welfare activity in the UK has been documented by Burchardt (1997) and Smithies (2005) for three time periods; 1979/1980, 1995/1996 and 1999/2000.

From Cell‐Derived Vesicles to Hybrid Nanovectors: Biological Membranes as Functional Blueprints for Gene Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biologically derived and hybrid nonviral nanovectors are examined as distinct but convergent design approaches. Integrating synthetic components with biologically functionalized membranes allows efficient interactions with complex cellular environments.

Advancing Human Skin Equivalents: The Crucial Role of Neurovascular Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses the importance of integrating vascular and peripheral nerve systems into human skin equivalents (HSEs) to better recapitulate native skin physiology. Recent advances in vascularized, innervated, and neurovascularized HSEs are highlighted, together with emerging bioengineering strategies, current challenges, and future ...

NeuroVisio SyncPatch: A Skin‐Conformal Multimodal EMG–Motion Sensing Platform for Quantitative Neuromuscular Rehabilitation and Performance Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeuroVisio SyncPatch integrates skin‐conformal electromyography (EMG) electrodes with camera‐tracked markers to jointly assess muscle activity and three‐dimensional knee kinematics during rehabilitation. Parallel feedback pathways provide real‐time kinematic guidance during movement and post‐trial neuromuscular feedback.

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Welfare Stigma or Information Sharing? Decomposing Social Interactions Effects in Social Benefit Use [PDF]

open access: yes
Empirical research has shown that social interactions affect the use of public benefits, thus providing evidence in favor of the idea of “welfare cultures.” In this paper we take the next crucial step by separately identifying the role of social stigma ...

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.
