Socially mediated technology awareness

Proceedings of the 4th international workshop on Social software engineering, 2011
New technology can reduce a developer's work. Yet, given how fast technology changes, it is close to impossible for a developer to stay aware of technological advances that might ease his work. In this paper, we propose an approach that increases the likelihood of a developer becoming aware of technology that might help him.

Designing Socially Aware Conversational Agents

2008
In this paper we address the problem of how to make conversational agents socially aware. State-of-the-art conversational agents cannot deal with multi-user situations where the user-system dialog is interleaved with discussions between users. We describe the development of an algorithm for determining addressee-hood of user utterances.

I will describe three systems that have a substantial understanding of social context, and use this understanding to improve human group performance.
